Happy New Year 2012!

Another year has come and gone, as hard as that is to believe! My mother always said that life is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes. I always thought she was crazy, I mean, time moves along at the same rate for everyone, right? But to be perfectly honest, time does seem to go by a lot faster the older I get.  These years definitely do not last as long as they did when I was a kid, or a teenager, or even a young twenty or thirty-something.  I haven't figured out why that is and can only assume it's because life becomes so full and busy that the time passes unnoticed more now than it did when I was younger. The year 2011 was a good year. I can't really think of anything overly remarkable that will etch it forever into my memory, save the fact that it is the first time I actually sat down and wrote a manuscript begining to end, completed the edits, and submitted it for consideration. Woot!  I've been writing poetry for years, and have had some success in non-fiction article publication, but the book, the completed novel, has always been the Holy Grail. The year 2011 was also a year in which I was  fortunate to "meet" via the internet, a number of successful authors who are not only talented, but helpful and giving of their time, advice, and experience. Now as 2012 begins, I am biting my nails and working on other projects. Since we have established that the years are getting shorter, there is no sense in resting on my somewhat dubious laurels, right!? New Year's resolutions? Well, I don't know if they are resolutions as much as wishful thinking in some cases, but here goes!
1.  Eat healthier, exercise more, lose weight (I should go on record as saying that I make this one every year and usually don't last beyond January)
2.  Win the lottery (note to self: buy tickets)
3.  Find a home for Death Benefits (also various poems and conpleted FF pieces)
4.  Complete current W(s)IP
5.  Quit smoking (Again,I should go on record as saying that I make this one every year and rarely last beyond January)
6. Buy a vacation home in Italy ( see Number 2 above)
7. Read, read, read
8. Make more time for the people in my life
9. Worry less, chill more
10. Spend more time appreciating the wonderful  things I have and less wishing for the unnecessary things that I don't :)

Happy New Year to all! May 2012 be a year of health, happiness, and blessings for you and yours!

No, sadly I haven't :( I did quit once for over a year and was dumb enough to think I could have one here and there...um, that didn't work out so well LOL
